Back to Singapore

Dear students,

I recently graduated with a Master of Music in Advanced Performance (Piano) from the Royal College of Music on July 8, 2011. It was the best learning experience I have gained from the city itself, London, and its people from professors to fellow musicians, artists and friends.

I will be going back to Singapore, and will resume teaching in October 2011.

Please email me regarding your questions about learning the piano and music in general: traditional piano lessons, piano accompaniment, Suzuki Piano method, adult piano lessons, music theory, or benefits of being involved with music in Singapore! Further Studies at the Royal College of Music, London

Dear Students,

I am going to London for further studies in music.

I will be doing a Master of Music in Advanced Piano Performance at the Royal College of Music, London. The course will start from 12th September 2009 to 8th July 2011.

However, I encourage you all to enroll for music lessons (piano, violin, flute, drums and voice) at a music school. I do recommend Klassique Musik.

ABOUT THE PIANIST

Alexandra Minoza is a classically trained pianist with experience in performing diverse musical repertoire spanning from early music by Bach to contemporary pieces by Prokofiev. She has recently graduated from the Royal College of Music in London with a Master of Music in Advanced Performance, where she studied under the tutelage of world renowned pianist, Leon McCawley; and from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Music in Performance where she studied under pianist Albert Tiu. Clear sense of musical personality, and fearless and engaging are some of the phrases regularly used to describe her piano performances.

Previously based in Singapore, Alexandra has more than four years of teaching experience preparing young high potentials for challenging examinations such as the ABRSM and early childhood music programs such as the Suzuki Piano method. Passionate about teaching children, she uses a variety of pedagogical methods to inculcate a love for music along with a strong playing technique. She also regularly publishes articles on the Suzuki technique in her blog and youtube videos.

Her instrumental teachers include British pianist Leon McCawley at the Royal College of Music, Albert Tiu at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Carmencita Arambulo at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Rosario Licad and Mila Nadala.

Born in the Philippines, Alexandra started learning the piano at the age of seven. She had her orchestral debut at the age of nine performing Haydn Piano Concerto in D, Hob. XVIII/2 with the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra sponsored by Abbott Philippines. At the age of eleven, she gained a place at the Philippine High School for the Arts. She has also performed at the Cultural Center of the Philippines prior to her graduation at the Philippine High School for the Arts. Along with numerous solo piano recitals, her performances were also featured in national television and music education conferences abroad. She was featured in GMA-7 Network Television 'A Little Night of Music' and Philippine Television-4 'Paco Park Presents'. International music education conferences includes her appearance at the opening gala concert of the Asian Suzuki Music Conference 2002 held in Singapore.

Granted a full-scholarship from Singtel Corporation, Alexandra moved to Singapore to study for a Bachelor of Music degree at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. In Singapore, Alexandra has performed at the Esplanade Concert Hall, Esplanade Recital Studio, Victoria Concert Hall, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concert Hall and the University Cultural Center of the National University of Singapore. After two years of teaching, she was awarded the Polani scholarship, to pursue her graduate studies at the Royal College of Music.

Awards include Polani Award, a post-graduate scholarship from the Royal College of Music, Finalist in 1st ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition (2004), Honorable Mention in National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Piano Category B-1, Dean's List, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore (2003), High Honors Philippine High School for the Arts (2003).
